LANCASTER, Pa. - The Saints of Marymount were tabbed to take home the Atlantic East Men’s Golf title as voted on by the conference head coaches.
The 2024 Atlantic East Conference Men’s Golf Championship will start on Sunday April 21st and conclude on Monday April 22nd. The two day tournament will be held at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.
In the 2024 Pre-Championship Coaches’ Poll, Marymount tallied 13 points and three first place votes. The Saints are led by Cameron Dawkins-Jones, Chase Manion and Jackson Newton who have all received Atlantic East Golfer of the Week honors this season. Last season the Saints finished fourth in the conference championship tournament and they hope to claim the title this season.
Cabrini and Marywood tied for second as they both received 12 points and one first place vote.
The Cavaliers are returning both Liam Casper and Frankie Sass.Casper won the individual title last season and was named the Atlantic East Golfer of the Year and Sass tied for second a season ago and earned Atlantic East Rookie of the Year honors. The Cavaliers are looking to win their fifth straight Atlantic East Conference championship.
Marywood finished as conference runner up last season and return top finisher Paul Appolt to the lineup. Last season Appolt finished tied for second and was a member of the All Conference First team. Appolt was also recently named Atlantic East Golfer of the Week.
Neumann finished fourth in the polls with eight points as the Knights finished third in the championship tournament last season. William Paterson concluded the coaches’ poll with five votes.
The teams will tee off at 11:20am on Sunday April 21st and at 11:00am the next day. At the conclusion of the tournament on Monday there will be an award ceremony where the following will be recognized: Team Champion, Team Runner-Up, First Team and Second Team All Conference, Golfer of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and the Elite 20 recipient.
