Cabrini Sweeps Softball Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the softball weekly honors on Monday, as Ariana Mirenda and Avery Byrnes of Cabrini University earned Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week.

Player of the Week: 
Name: Ariana Mirenda
School: Cabrini University
Class: Sophomore
Position: 3B
Hometown: Reading, PA
High School: Berks Catholic
Brief Outlook of Week: Mirenda hit .385 with 10 runs scored, 4 RBI and 10 stolen bases, as Cabrini went 6-2 last week. The sophomore recorded at least one hit in seven games, including a 3-4 performance with 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases in a win over Concordia (MN).
 
Pitcher of the Week:
Name: Avery Byrnes
School: Cabrini University
Class: Junior
Position: Pitcher
Hometown: Downington, PA
High School: Downingtown East
Brief Outlook of Week: Byrnes continued to dominant start to the season, going 3-2 with a save, including a pair of complete game shutout wins over Wartburg and Rosm-Hulman. Over her 28.3 innings last week, Byrnes recorded 27 strikeouts against just nine earned runs.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Morgan Hunt (Junior / Marymount): Hunt picked up a pair of wins in the pitcher's circle for the Saints last week. In a 5-3 win over Centenary, Hunt threw seven innings and struck out won to earn the victory. She followed that up with an eight strikeout performance in an 11-3 win over Blackburn.
