Ronayne Headlines Men's Swimming All-Conference Teams

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the 2022 Men's Swimming Major Award Winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday morning as Cabrini University, St. Mary's College of Maryland and Marymount University earned major awards.

Tommy Ronayne earned Swimmer of the Year after taking home 6 gold medals and 1 silver. Ronayne set records in each of his three gold medal individual events: Men's 200 IM (1:56.96), Men's 400 IM (4:09.24) and the Men's 200 Fly (1:57.65). The sophomore was also a part of Cabrini's 400 medley relay team, 200 medley relay team and 800 freestyle relay team. Each of those teams won gold. Ronayne's silver medal came in the 400 freestyle relay.

Freshman phenom from St. Mary's, Luke Schwenk, earned Rookie of the Year after dominating his events. Schwenk claimed gold in the Men's 50 Free with a time of 20.76, the Men's 100 Fly in 50.70 and the Men's 100 Back in 50.20. The freshman was a member of three relay teams that placed second, and anchored the 400 freestyle relay team that won gold. Schwenk also set three records in each of his individual events.

Cabrini University was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year, as voted on by the coaches of the conference, after winning the Atlantic East title for the fourth season in a row.

Finally, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for men's swimming, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, is Trevor Cairns from Marymount University. Cairns, a member of runner-up Marymount, maintains a cumulative 3.98 GPA.
