St. Mary’s City, Md. - Marymount continues to dominate following two days of competition.
Kicking off the night with the 500 freestyle, Harrison Greenwald of St. Mary’s set a new conference and meet record. The sophomore, who held the previous record, clocked a time of 4:40.66, securing gold. Marymount took home silver and bronze via Nathan Bruley (4:44.29) and Garrett Watson (4:48.59), respectively.
Taking home the 200 IM was Marymount’s Noah Popp, who set a new conference and meet record with a time of 1:54.57. Coming in second place was fellow Saint Ryan Faherty, earning silver thanks to a 1:54.90. Closing out the podium trio was Brendan Mannion of St. Mary’s, who clocked a 1:55.77 in the tight contest.
Marymount swept the 50 free, placing a Saint on each of the three podium spots. Luke Claudy clocked a 20.65 and was quickly followed up by Ben Clabeaux in 20.94. Carsten Hicks’ time of 21.05 rounded out the top three, giving Marymount a heavy share of points.
Closing out the night with the 200 freestyle relay, the Saints of Marymount landed atop the podium after posting a time of 1:23.10, yet another new meet and conference record. The hosts St. Mary’s clocked a 1:26.55, good for silver, while Marywood took home bronze with a time of 1:38.38.
Day three of the championships is a loaded one, beginning with prelims at 10am on Saturday, February 14th, followed by finals at 5:30 pm. Kicking off the day will be the 400 IM, followed by the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke before the night is closed out with the 400 medley relay.
