Marymount and St. Mary's Pull Away From the Bunch After Day Three of the Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

St. Mary’s City, Md. - With one day remaining, the race is on between Marymount and St. Mary's for the men's swimming and diving crown.

In the 400 IM, St. Mary’s Harrison Greenwald took home gold, clocking a 4:04.22, a new meet and conference record. Marymount took the final two podium spots, with Alex Hain recording a 4:13.40 and Garrett Peck touching in 4:19.00

The Saints had a clean sweep on the 100 yard butterfly, with Cartsen Hicks leading the bunch, posting a new meet and conference record time of 48.87. Coming in second was Daniel Caldwell with a 50.83, shortly followed by Vincent Tran with a 52.15.

After the 100 butterfly, Marymount remained atop, taking home gold in the 200 freestyle with Luke Claudy touching the wall in 1:41.40. St. Mary’s Seth Geasy landed second with a 1:45.91, while Garrett Watson took home bronze, thanks to a time of 1:46.64.

In the 200 breaststroke, Marymount's Ryan Faherty landed atop the podium posting a time of 57.39, with fellow Saint Evan Pak earning silver after touching in 57.64. Daniel Madigan of St. Mary’s earned bronze with a time of 57.77.

Marymount once again swept another event, taking home all three spots in the 100 backstroke. Noah Popp earned gold (51.29), with Ben Clabeaux coming in second (52.53), and Vincent Tran securing bronze (53.84).

The 400 medley relay saw Marymount come out on top with a time of 3:22.07, posting another new conference and meet record.  St. Mary’s clocked a time of 3:36.35 for silver, with Marywood earning bronze via a 3:53.53.

Sunday will see the final day of competition take place, as swimmers will compete in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 200 freestyle relay.
