LANCASTER, Pa. - Cabrini University earned 36 points to finish at the top of the 2022 Atlantic East Conference Softball Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the conference's head coaches.
Cabrini eyes their first softball conference title after receiving 6 first-place votes in the coaches poll. Neumann, the 2018-19 conference champions, landed second in the poll behind the Cavaliers with 28 points.
Marywood University came in at third in the poll with 22 points while Immaculata University landed fourth with 18 points. Gwynedd Mercy University and Marymount University tied for fifth in the poll with 15 points each. The Saints received the other first-place vote. Centenary University rounded out the poll with 13 points, respectively.
2022 marks the first season of softball competition for Marymount as they are a brand new program, and the first season Centenary will compete in the Atlantic East since joining the conference.
Cabrini, Neumann and Marymount will open up their season on their spring break trips this weekend, February 26th and 27th. Immaculata begins March 2, Centenary opens March 4 and Marywood and Gwynedd Mercy will open on the 7th of March. Conference play begins March 4 with a matchup between Marymount and Centenary.
The 2022 Atlantic East Tournament is set for April 29-30 and May 6-7.
