Women's Basketball 12/6/2021 12:07:31 PM Rook, Escano Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Awards LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Immaculata University's Jordan Rook earned Player of the Week and Centenary University's Carmen Escano grabbed Defensive Player of the Week for the second week straight. Player of the Week: Name: Jordan Rook School: Immaculata University Class: Junior Position: Guard Hometown: Wilmington, DE High School: Conrad School of Science Brief Outlook of Week: Jordan Rook led the Mighty Macs to three victories last week, averaging 18 points per game over the stretch. Her 54 points scored led the Mighty Macs on the week. On Monday, Rook scored 14 points, adding four assists, two steals, and one rebound in the process as Immaculata defeated Penn State Brandywine 89-33. Next, Rook was the lead scorer in the Macs’ victory over Moravian on Wednesday, dropping 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal in the Macs’ 69-53 win. Rook then broke the 20-point mark for the time this season on Saturday, scoring 21 points and notching five steals, two rebounds, and one assist in the Macs’ 86-47 blowout against Penn State Abington. Rook has reached double-digits in points every game this season. Defensive Player of the Week: Name: Carmen Escano School: Centenary University Class: Junior Position: Forward Hometown: Passaic, NJ High School: Passaic Brief Outlook of Week: Escano continued her double-double streak as she led the Cyclones to a pair of road wins this week. She averaged 14.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game and has now posted a double-double in four straight contests. She finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds in the win at Cedar Crest. She also added three assists and a steal in that contest. Escano then threw down 19 points and 10 rebounds in the win at Cairn. She added four steals in that one. Escano shot 66.7% from the field in the contest. Weekly Honor Roll: Cayla Sharkey (Gwynedd Mercy/ Junior): Sharkey patrolled the paint and anchored the Griffin defense in a 1-1 week with three blocks and a pair of steals. She also recorded four points and grabbed 19 rebounds between the two affairs. Sharkey recorded all three blocks and both steals in the Griffins' 83-55 win over Penn State Berks. She paired the hustle with 10 rebounds. Later, she recorded four points and nine rebounds in a 78-62 loss to Albright College. Hayley Crossley (Gwynedd Mercy / Junior): Crossley averaged a double-double of 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week that included an 83-55 victory over Penn State Berks. Crossley recorded 14 points, 14 rebounds, an assist, and two steals in the win. She followed the performance with 12 points, six rebounds, and a steal in a 78-62 loss to Albright College. Abigail Lentowski (Immaculata / Freshman): Abigail Lentowski earned 28 rebounds over the course of three games to lead the Mighty Macs defensively to three victories on the week. On Monday, Lentowski recorded a double-double, leading the Macs both offensively and defensively as she recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Macs’ victory over Penn State Brandywine. Lentowski then reached double digits in rebounds again on Saturday, earning 12 rebounds against Penn State Abington.
