Immaculata and Neumann to meet in AEC WBB Title Match

The championship of the 2024-2025 Atlantic East Women’s Basketball Championship is set as the Immaculata and Neumann won their respective games to clinch a spot in the title match on Saturday.

Top-seeded Immaculata knocked off fifth-seed Marywood 69-48, while third-seeded Neumann rallied to beat second-seeded Marymount.

The AEC will crown a new champion for the first time since 2022, when the Mighty Macs last won with a victory over Gwynedd Mercy. Neumann advanced to the title game last season, falling to Marymount

The Immaculata women's basketball team is advancing to the Atlantic East Conference Championship game as the No.1 Seed Mighty Macs defeated No. 5 seed Marywood 69-48 on Wednesday evening at Alumnae Hall. As the AEC Regular Season Champions Immaculata will host the #3 seed Neumann on Saturday, March 1st at Alumnae Hall at 2:00 p.m. Neumann defeated Marymount 60-57 on the road on Wednesday evening in the other semifinal.

Reese Mullins led all scorers tonight with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a blocked shot, and three steals. Carly Coleman registered her eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds, with three blocked shots and five steals. Olivia Ettorre scored 11 points, hitting a couple key three-pointers in the third quarter surge. Riley Cassidy reached double digits for a second straight game.#1 Neumann 89, #5 Marywood 69

The Neumann University women's basketball mounted a comeback to take the Atlantic East Semifinal game 60-57 at Marymount University on Wednesday evening.

Emily DuPont led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jacqueline Wardrop notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards while adding five assists.

The teams played a close first quarter and were tied at 13 after the first 10 minutes. DuPont scored the first basket of the second quarter before the Saints answered with the next nine points for a 22-15 lead. With the score 25-21, Marymount scored the final 11 points of the quarter to take a 36-21 lead into halftime.

The Knights started to chip their way into the deficit in the third quarter. Neumann went on a 10-0 run to pull within five, 40-35, with 3:46 on the clock. They got as close as three, 42-39, on a free throw by Aubrie Breisblatt, in the final minute. The Saints sank two three-pointers in the final 30 seconds and take a 48-41 lead into the fourth.

Neumann didn't give up and continued to shrink the Marymount lead. With 2:36 left in regulation, a layup by Wardrop put the Knights up 56-55. The Saints went back up by one with just under a minute left.

DuPont responded on the next possession with a layup and a 58-57 Knights lead. The Saints missed their next shot and fouled Bri Gautier, who made 1-of-2 from line for a two-point edge. After a Marymount turnover, DuPont was fouled and also made 1-of-2 for a three-point advantage. The Saints had two three-point looks to try and tie the game, but neither fell and the Knights came away with the 60-57 win.
