Immaculata captures Atlantic East Conference Women's Basketball title

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team captured their second Atlantic East Conference Championship in program history defeating Neumann 66-43 on Saturday afternoon at Alumnae Hall. Olivia Ettorre led all scorers with 14 points, shooting 3-4 from three-point range, with four blocked shots, and two steals and was named the Conference Championship Most Valuable Player.

This was Immaculata's 15th consecutive win, as they improve to 22-3 overall, they were 12-0 in the Atlantic East Conference play and finish 14-0 at Alumnae Hall this season.

This was Immaculata's second AEC Championship in four years having won in 2022, as seniors Abigail BoyerVictoria FosterTessa Liberatoscioli, and Reese Mullins all earn their second conference championships.

How it Happened
  • Tessa Liberatoscioli took the opening tipoff and scored on a driving layup to give the Mighty Macs an early 2-0 lead. Olivia Ettorre scored on a layup for Immaculata. Neumann came back and took a 6-4 lead. Alyssa Long hit a pair of free throws, and Tessa Liberatoscioli scored on another layup as Immaculata retook the lead 8-6 with 4:01 remaining in the quarter. Olivia Ettorre and Reese Mullins scored on layups as Immaculata led 15-6 after one quarter of play.
  • In the second quarter Carly Coleman scored on an early layup, and Tessa Liberatoscioli got a steal and a driving layup as Immaculata extended their lead to 19-6. Neumann would push back to cut the lead to 24-19 with 6:12 remaining in the quarter. Olivia Ettorre hit a three-pointer with 3:48 remaining to put Immaculata up 28-19. Alyssa Long scored on a layup, and Neumann hit a late three-pointer as Immaculata led 32-25 at the halftime break.
  • Reese Mullins opened the scoring in the third quarter with an early layup. Carly Coleman followed with a layup, drawing a foul, and completed the three-point play at the foul line. Olivia Ettorre hit another three-pointer with 6:37 remaining in the quarter to extend Immaculata's lead to 40-29. Riley Cassidy hit a three-pointer of her own later in the quarter as Immaculata would take a 48-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter Tessa Liberatoscioli hit a pair of free throws. Abigail Boyer scored on a layup, and Riley Cassidy had a tip in basket as Immaculata increased their lead to 54-40. Reese MullinsCarly Coleman, and Alyssa Long all scored as Immaculata would go on to close out the championship winning 63-48.

  • Olivia Ettorre led all scorers scoring 14 points, shooting 5-9 from the field, 3-4 from behind the arc, with four blocked shots, and two steals to earn Championship MVP Honors.
  • Carly Coleman had her ninth double-double of the season, and her third consecutive double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals.
  • Tessa Liberatoscioli scored 10 points, with four rebounds, four assists, one blocked shot, and three steals.
  • Reese Mullins scored nine points, with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Riley Cassidy scored eight points, five rebounds, and one blocked shot.
  • Alyssa Long scored seven points, with one rebound, two assists, and she had five steals.
  • Abigail Boyer scored two points, with one rebound, three assists, and one steal.

  • Immaculata shot 39% (23-59) from the field. 30.8% (4-13) from behind the arc and shot 81.3% (13-16) from the stripe. They scored 12 second chance points, 36 points in the paint, and scored 22 points off turnovers.
  • Neumann shot 32.7% (18-55) from the field, 22.2% (4-18) from behind the arc, and 66.7% (6-9) from the stripe. They scored 10 second chance points, 24 points in the paint, and they scored 11 points off turnovers.
