HADDONFIELD, N.J. – No. 5 Gwynedd Mercy advanced to the Atlantic East Conference semifinals with a close, 2-1 win against #4 Saint Elizabeth in the first round of the tournament.
The Griffins were up by two goals after 48 minutes before the Eagles staged a comeback, stemming from a 65th minute goal. However, goalkeeper Andrew Roberto posted yet another double-digit save performance, turning away 13 attempts on target from Saint Elizabeth. After 90 miuntes of play, things fell in favor of Gwynedd Mercy who earned a spot in the next round of the Atlantic East Tournament.
 
The Griffins now advance to the Atlantic East Semifinals, a program history first, and will travel to top seed Neumann on Tuesday, November 4. The other semifinal will feature No. 3 Marymount traveling to No. 2 Marywood. The winners will advance to the conference championship on Saturday, November 8th at the highest remaining seed. The conference champion will earn the conference’s automatic qualifier into the 2025 NCAA DIII Men’s Soccer Championship.

Madison, N.J. - (11/1/2025) – The number five-seeded Gwynedd Mercy University (8-10, 4-4) traveled to the number four-seeded Saint Elizabeth University (4-7-4, 3-4-1) for the first round of the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Championship Tournament. The Red and Gold earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, this is the first time in program history that the team has advanced to the AEC semifinals. Senior goalkeeper Andrew Roberto (Churchville, Pa.) was sensational in net, piling up 13 saves to preserve the win despite a relentless Saint Elizabeth attack that produced 28 shots and 10 corner kicks (7-4). 
Griffin Highlights:  
	- The Griffins struck early when senior defenseman Colin Stocklin (Philadelphia, Pa.) found the back of the net in the eighth minute (7:43), finishing a setup from junior midfielder Luke O'Donnell (Glenside, Pa.) to make it 1-0. O'Donnell was a constant threat throughout, recording a team-high seven shots and three on goal. 
 
	- Early in the second half, junior forward Devario Gboho (Philadelphia, Pa.) doubled the Gwynedd Mercy lead (2-0) just two minutes (47:08) after the restart with his fifth goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner. 
 
	- Gwynedd Mercy finished with 12 shots overall, six of them on target, and showed strong composure in the final minutes to secure the result. 
 
Gwynedd Mercy University will travel to the number one-seeded Neumann University for a semifinal showdown on Tuesday, November 4th, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff time.
