Marywood's Samaniego and Marymount's Humphries Receive Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Volleyball weekly award winners on Monday Marywood’s Carolina Samaniego and Marymount’s Ava Humphries earned Player and Specialty Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Player of the Week: Carolina Samaniego
School: Marywood
Class: Freshman
Position: Outside Hitter
Hometown: Laredo, Texas
High School: United
Brief Outlook of Week: Samaniego produced a team-high 35 points in three Marywood three-set wins this week. She had 29 kills with a .250 hitting percentage, 29 digs and five blocks across the week. In a win over Gwynedd Mercy, Samaniego had 13 kills with a .393 hitting percentage. She added eight kills against both Drew and Rutgers-Newark. The Laredo, Texas, native also picked up four assists, three service aces and two block assists across both matches.


Specialty Player of the Week: Ava Humphries
School: Marymount
Class: Junior
Position: Defensive Specialist
Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.
High School: Mallard Creek
Brief Outlook of Week: Humphries recorded 6.33 and 6.00 digs per set in Marymount's 1-1 day on Saturday at Centenary. She racked up 37 digs in total across the day with a service ace and two assists. Her 6.17 digs per set average is a national mark, with the current NCAA division III individual seasonal average top three being 7.24, 6.22 and 6.11 dps respectively.

 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Kate Etter, Gwynedd Mercy:
Etter totaled a team-high 46.0 points in the Griffins' 1-2 week with 39 kills, four aces, two solo blocks, and two block assists. She scored 17.5 points in a five-set loss to Rutgers-Camen with 11 kills, four aces, two solo blocks, and a block assists. Then, she recorded 13 kills against Marywood University and 15 kills against Rutgers-Newark in a 1-1 Saturday tri-match.

Angelica Santini Bulerin, Immaculata: Santini Bulerin delivered an outstanding performance across three matches this weekend, totaling nine kills, 88 assists, four service aces, and 26 digs, helping lead the Mighty Macs to a pair of victories. In Friday’s 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark, she recorded four kills, 32 assists, three service aces, and 10 digs. Later that night, in a four-set battle against York, she contributed four kills, 31 assists, and six digs. The freshman wrapped up the weekend on Saturday with three kills, 25 assists, and 10 digs in a 3-0 Atlantic East Conference-opening win over Saint Elizabeth.

Mia Esposito, Immaculata: Esposito had an impressive showing this weekend, totaling 37 kills over three matches, playing a key role in both of Immaculata’s victories. She opened the weekend with 14 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Newark on Friday. Later that evening, she added another 14 kills in a competitive four-set match against York. Esposito wrapped up her strong weekend with 9 kills in Immaculata's 3-0 Atlantic East Conference-opening win over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday.

Kyla Carney, Neumann: Carney handed out 69 assists as Neumann went 2-0 overall, 1-0 in Atlantic East action. In a 3-0 win over Pratt, the sophomore handed out 27 assists and added 11 digs. In the next match of the tri-match, Carney tallied 42 assists and 19 digs in an exciting 3-2 win over Rutgers-Camden.

Melissa Eddy, Neumann: Eddy hit 25 kills, a .222 hitting percentage, and added 48 digs in a 2-0 week for the Knights who went 1-0 in conference action. The sophomore started with three kills and nine digs in a 3-0 win over Pratt. In a 3-2 win over Rutgers-Camden, Eddy tallied 22 kills and 18 digs. The sophomore tallied six kills in an 8-0 run by the Knights in the fifth set, including the final kill of the match.

Dadlyna Louis, Saint Elizabeth: Louis may have only had one match this week, however, she made the most of it. Louis was able to pick up a double-double in her lone game, recording up 14 points off of 12 kills, a service ace, and a solo block against Immaculata. She averaged 4.67 points per set.
