LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Softball weekly award winners on Tuesday, as Cabrini’s Ariana Mirenda and Gwynedd Mercy Jocelyn Baumeister earn Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Ariana Mirenda
School: Cabrini
Class: Senior
Position: Outfield
Hometown: Reading, Pa.
High School: Berks Catholic
Brief Outlook of Week: Mirenda was perfect from the leadoff position in the Cavaliers first game with Gwynedd Mercy. She reached base 5 times in 5 plate appearances behind a triple, a single, and 3 walks. Mirenda stole a base in her only attempt and crossed the plate 3 times for Cabrini. In game 2, Mirenda went 1 for 3 and provided the Cavs' lone run.
Pitcher of the Week:
Name: Jocelyn Baumeister
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Senior
Position: Pitcher/ Infield
Hometown: Willow Gove, Pa.
High School: Upper Moreland
Brief Outlook of Week: Baumeister totaled 11.0 innings between starts versus Cabrini (W, 12-1 (5)) and Rutgers-Camden (L, 0-1). She held the Cavaliers to one run on four hits and a walk, while striking out two in her third win (3-2) of the season. She took the loss (3-3) versus the Scarlet Raptors despite striking out eight and holding the them to one unearned run on one hit.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Nadia Bhuiyan (Fy., Pitcher, Immaculata): Bhuiyan pitched a combined 12 innings over four games, allowing five runs, only two earned runs, struck out three, and earned a save and a complete game win. She earned her first college save on March 25th vs Marywood pitching 1.1 scoreless innings to close Immaculata's 6-5 win over Marywood in game one of their Atlantic East doubleheader. She went the complete eight innings allowing no earned runs, striking out one in Immaculata's 5-3 extra-inning win over Ursinus in game two of their doubleheader on March 26th.
Tori Para (So., Third Base, Shortstop, Marywood): Leading the Pacers to a 3-3 week, Para batted .500 with six runs and five RBIs. She finished with four extra base hits, hitting a pair of doubles and triples.
Grace Scally (Sr., Third Base, Gwynedd Mercy): Burch Scally was 5-for-12 with a walk, two runs, and six RBI in a 1-3 week against Cabrini and Rutgers-Camden. She was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run as she knocked in two teammates with a single in the seventh inning of a 10-7 game-one loss to the Cavaliers. The she went 3-for-3 with a run in a 12-1 five-inning game two win; she cleared the bases with a second-inning double to the wall. Against the Scarlet Raptors, Scally was 1-for-6 with a RBI single in the first inning of game one.
