LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday for the week ending on March 26th. Immaculata’s Jacki Murray and Neumann’s Catriona Corrigan earned Player and Defensive Player of the week honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Jacki Murray
School: Immaculata
Class: Junior
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Malvern, Pa.
High School: Villa Maria Academy
Brief Outlook of Week: Murray scored eight goals and added three assists in leading Immaculata to a 19-11 win over Delaware Valley on March 25th. The junior began the game by assisting on Immaculata’s first two goals. Her eleven points allowed her to surpass the 100-point mark for her career. Murray also had five ground balls, two caused turnovers and 12 draw controls. She finished the week with nine goals and four assists.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Catriona Corrigan
School: Neumann
Class: Graduate
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Aldan, Pa.
High School: Bonner-Prendergast.
Brief Outlook of Week: Corrigan 11 saves and picked up two wins in net for a 2-0 week for Neumann. She made three saves in a a15-4 win at Lancaster Bible. Corrigan followed with eight saves, including a huge save in overtime on a free position shot, in a 12-11 overtime win against Hood.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Brylin Adams (Gr., Attack, Neumann): Adams scored nine goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for Neumann. She added nine draw controls and three groundball in the wins. The graduate student tallied two goals in a 15-4 win at Lancaster Bible. Adams then led the Knights to a 12-11 overtime win over Hood to win their seventh straight. She netted seven goals, including the game-tying goal with just over aa minute left in regulation to send the game to overtime. Adams then had an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime.
Arayla Garcia (So., Attack, Marymount) : Sophomore Garcia was the main force on the Saints offensive efforts over their 2-0 week. Notching eight goals and an assist. Garcia racked up nine total points on the week, while adding 16 draw controls, two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
Avery Meighan (Fy., Midfield, Marywood): Meighan helped lead the Pacers to a a2-1 record this past week. She contributed one goal and one assist against Keystone to record an 18-0 shutout victory. Against Eastern, she added two goals, three assists, and eight draw controls. In an overtime loss to Misericordia, Meighan led the team with seven points on five goals and two assist. She was also a force on the circle as she collected 11 draw controls.
