Marymount Women's Lacrosse Finishes Season at First NCAA Tournament Appearance

YORK, Pa. -- Marymount women's lacrosse took on Plymouth State in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon, the first trip for the Saints in the history of the program.

The Saints end their historic season with a 17-3 overall record, marking the most wins in a single season in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a pair of goals from Plymouth State, the Saints answered with a goal from Tess Valentino to even up the tally. Love was credited with her second assist of the day.
  • The Panthers went on a four goal run down the stretch of the first quarter. Natalia Ortiz sank her first goal of the day, assisted by Arayla Garcia, to give the Saints life heading into the second quarter of action.
  • After the Panthers sank one to open the second, Marymount scored three straight from three different Saints to cut the lead down to one.
  • Plymouth State put themselves back up to a four goal lead before Gehler drained one to end the half. Marymount were down by just three goals heading into the second half.
  • Love gave the pass to Ortiz to open up the second half and cut the lead down to two goals.
  • Back-to-back goals from Gehler and Valentino put Marymount within two goals of the Panthers in the third quarter.
