Women's Volleyball 9/13/2021 9:00:00 AM Pena, Burgos Receive Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors LANCASTER, Pa. - On Monday afternoon, the Atlantic East Conference released the Women's Volleyball weekly honors. Ariana Pena of Neumann University earned player of the week while Marywood's Sara Burgos earned speciality player of the week. Player of the Week: Name: Ariana Pena School: Neumann University Class: Senior Position: Hitter Hometown: Dumont, NJ High School: Dumont Brief Outlook of Week: Pena led Neumann in a 4-1 week as she notched 62 kills and a .491 hitting percentage. The senior had double-digit kills in four of the five matches, with nine kills in the fifth match. Her week high was 21 in a 3-1 win over Gallaudet. Pena added six solo blocks and 12 block assists. The senior was named to the All-Tournament team as Neumann went 3-1 at the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College over the weekend. Defensive Player of the Week: Name: Sara Burgos School: Marywood University Class: Senior Position: Setter Hometown: Mount Laurel, NJ High School: Lenape Brief Outlook of Week: Burgos tallied 114 assists, eight aces and 35 digs lead Marywood to a 3-1 week. She finished with 33 sets in a three-set win over Lycoming. Against Keystone, Burgos totaled six aces. The Mount Laurel, N.J. setter garnered 30 assist, 10 dig efforts in both matches versus King's and Cairn. For the week, she averaged 9.5 assists and 2.92 digs per set. Weekly Honor Roll: Casey Hagerstrom (Marywood / Sophomore / Middle Hitter): Hagerstrom led the Pacers to a 3-1 week with 31 kills, four total blocks, four aces, and a .473 attack percentage. The Bethpage, N.Y. middle hitter scattered 11 kills, four blocks and a .476 hitting percentage in a three-set win over Cairn. Hagerstrom followed suit with a combined 15 kills and just one error in a pair of 3-0 wins over Lycoming and Keystone at the Marywood tri-match. She averaged 2.58 kills per set on the week. Natalie Garbalosa (Marymount / Libero): Garbalosa anchored MU's defense at the Garnet Quad Tournament. The junior finished with double-digit digs in all three of MU's matches. In the win over Lebanon Valley, Garbalos posted 10 digs and eight assists. Against Swarthmore, the Boca Raton, Florida, native finished with a career-high 34 digs, and added 17 digs against Stevens.
