Marymount and Immaculata Advance to Men's Lacrosse Championship

HADDONFIELD, N.J. – No. 2 Immaculata and No. 1 Marymount advance to the Atlantic East Men's Lacrosse Championship after semifinal victories.

No. 2 Immaculata defeated No. 3 Gwynedd Mercy with a 14-4 victory. No. 1 Marymount hosted No. 4 Marywood and came away with an 11-5 victory.

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Senior goalkeeper Matthew Ludlow made 17 saves, anchoring the defensive unit, and eight different players scored at least one goal, as the second-seeded Immaculata defeated third-seeded Gwynedd Mercy, 14-4, in its Atlantic East Conference (AEC) men's lacrosse Semifinal Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY
  • Gwynedd Mercy struck first just under two minutes in, but Immaculata responded quickly and never looked back. Jason Smaron got the Macs on the board midway through the opening quarter off a feed from Ryan Gorman, sparking a three-goal run. Jude Azzarano and Gorman followed with tallies of their own to give Immaculata a 3–1 lead after one.
  • The Macs continued to build momentum in the second quarter. Azzarano added his second goal of the game off a crisp pass from John Stelacio. After Gwynedd briefly cut into the deficit, Immaculata answered with back-to-back goals from Brody Moore and Aaron Headley to take a 6–2 advantage into halftime.
  • Immaculata seized full control in the third quarter, erupting for six goals in a span of less than 11 minutes. Headley and Moore each struck early in the period before Stelacio, Azzarano (man-up), and Brian Fuchs extended the lead to 11–2. Gwynedd Mercy managed a pair of goals late in the quarter, but Frame closed the quarter with another goal to make it 12–4 heading into the final period.
  • The fourth quarter saw the Macs continue to dictate play. Gorman added his second goal of the game early in the period, and Frame capped the scoring with his second tally off a Gorman assist. Immaculata would go on to close out the 14-4 victory.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Marymount celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion at Long Bridge Park, honoring Ian FructuosoJacob BrooksBen Cooper, and James Elko before cruising past Marywood, 11-5, to secure a spot in the Atlantic East Conference Championship. With the win, the Saints improved to 4-0 in conference play and will host Immaculata on Saturday with the title on the line. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for six goals in the opening quarter to take full control early. Santino Rossitto led the charge, while contributions from Wyatt LabonteMatthew KurczeskiIan Fructuoso, and James Elko helped the Saints jump out to a commanding 6-0 lead. The Saints kept their foot on the gas in the second, adding three more goals, including a man-up finish from Rossitto, to carry a 9-0 advantage into halftime.
Marywood showed life in the third quarter with three quick goals, but Marymount responded with two more from Rossitto to maintain a comfortable lead at 11-3. The Saints' defense handled the final frame, allowing just two goals while closing out the 11-5 victory.

  • Santino Rossitto delivered a standout performance with five goals and two assists
  • Senior Ian Fructuoso added two goals, continuing his strong offensive impact
  • Matthew Kurczeski chipped in two goals, while Wyatt Labonte and James Elko each scored once
  • Elko also added an assist, contributing on both ends in his Senior Day performance
  • Braden Miller recorded two assists, helping facilitate the offense
  • Connor Howard made eight saves in 53 minutes, while senior Jacob Brooks saw time in goal with two saves
  • Marymount controlled possession with a 12-8 edge in faceoffs and a 23-15 advantage in ground balls

Marymount will host Immaculata on Saturday at Long Bridge Park in the Atlantic East Conference Championship, with game time to be announced.
