HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly award winners on Monday, with Jaythan Dumas of Marymount being named Track Athlete of the Week and Sam Struggs being named Field Athlete of the Week.
Track Athlete of the Week: Jaythan Dumas
School: Marymount
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Dumfries, Va.
High School: Forest Park
Brief Outlook of Week: Dumas put up a pair of record-breaking performances for the Saints on Sunday at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell. Clocking a time of 10.74 in the 100m dash, Dumas broke the program record in the event. The first-year added another program record-breaking outing in the 200m dash with a time of 10.74.
Field Athlete of the Week: Sam Struggs
School: Marymount
Class: Senior
Hometown: Sugar Land, Texas
High School: Fort Bend Travis
Brief Outlook of Week: At the EMU Heritage Invitational, senior Sam Struggs put up top showings in jumps. Placing second in the triple jump event, Struggs hit a mark of 12.94m. He added a 6.37m mark in the long jump.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Conner Brennan, Gwynedd Mercy: Brennan finished second in the 3,000-Meter (9:56.15), a University record.
Tyson Scheitrum, Gwynedd Mercy: Scheitrum continued his rewrite of the Griffin record books with his record Hammer distance of 44.01 (2nd) meters.
Colin Corkery, Immaculata: Corkery had a strong performance at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday. He finished third place in the Hammer throw with an IU program record throw of 41.58 meters. He broke the record in his first throw, then broke that record on his second throw. He finished 5th in the discus with a throw of 36.65 meters, he finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 11.92 meters.
Bryan Castro, Neumann: Castro placed fourth within DIII opponents in two events at the Delaware Invites. He ran the 1500m in a time of 4:32.25 and the 800m in 2:06.53.
Shilo Bivins, Marywood: Bivins finished in second place in the high jump in his first-ever collegiate meet at York. Bivins cleared 6 feet, 2 3/4 inches (1.9m), missing the school record by just two-hundredths of a meter. Bivins came in eighth place in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 7 inches (6.27m). Bivins' high jump leads the Atlantic East and ranks ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Joseph Cardillo, Marywood: In an invite 5K field of top regional Division I, II and III runners, Cardillo set a new PR with a 15:15.57. He finished 91st overall in the field. Cardillo beat his previous best by eight seconds. His 5K times leads the Atlantic East performance list by 40 seconds.
Sayfullah Carter, Saint Elizabeth: Carter once again put on a show at the Rutgers Relays in the 100 & 200, running a 11.50 in the 100, and 23.16 in the 200.
Jordan Lomax, Saint Elizabeth: Lomax was able to place 18th in the Rutgers Relays in Long Jump, landing a jump of 6.12m (20-01.00).
