Fifth Seeded Centenary Advances to the Women's Basketball Semifinal

HADDONFIELD, N.J. – No. 5 Centenary advanced to the Atlantic East Conference Women's Basketball semifinals following 67-60 win against #4 Neumann in the first round of the tournament.

The Cyclones were down at the half, 26-33, before scoring a massive 23 points in the third quarter, while holding the Knights to just 10. The fourth quarter was a battle until the end, seeing Centenary come out on top to move on. Vatijah Davis had a standout performance, recording a double-double from 20 rebounds and 19 points, while also taking away three steals. Alexandra Koon also recorded a double-double in her 21 minutes of action, scoring 10 points and collecting 12 boards, dishing out five assists as well.

Centenary advances to the Atlantic East Semifinals and will travel to top seed Immaculata on Thursday, February 26. The other semifinal will feature No. 3 Marywood traveling to No. 2 Marymount, with both games tipping off at 6pm. The winners will advance to the conference championship on Saturday, Febnruary 28, at the highest remaining seed. The conference champion will earn the conference’s automatic qualifier into the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Championship.

Aston, Pa. — The Centenary University women's basketball team used a dominant third quarter to rally past Neumann, 67-60, on Monday evening on the road at The Mirenda Center, punching its ticket to the Atlantic East Conference semifinals.With the win, the fifth-seeded Cyclones improve to 14-12 overall and will travel to face top-seeded Immaculata on Thursday.

Centenary trailed 33-26 at halftime before delivering the decisive push in the third quarter. The Cyclones erupted for a 23-10 advantage in the period, turning a seven-point deficit into a 49-43 lead entering the fourth. The defensive intensity and rebounding edge fueled the swing, as Centenary controlled the paint and second-chance opportunities.

Vatijah Davis led the Cyclones with a monster performance, posting 19 points and a game-high 20 rebounds (career high) for a dominant double-double. Alexa Osafo-Mensah added 12 points and six boards, while Ashanti Dewalt contributed 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Alexandra Koon provided a strong interior presence with her first career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Centenary finished with a commanding 53-28 rebounding advantage and 36 points in the paint. The Cyclones also received 23 bench points in the victory.

After building the fourth-quarter cushion, Centenary held off a late Neumann push by converting key free throws down the stretch to secure the seven-point win.

The Cyclones now advance to the Atlantic East semifinals, where they will face No. 1 seed Immaculata on Thursday at 6PM, with a trip to the conference championship on the line.
