HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey weekly award winners on Monday, as Manhattanville’s Shannon Keena was tabbed Player of the Week and Immaculata’s Mackenzie Schrack took home Defensive Player of the Week.
Player of the Week: Shannon Keena
School: Manhattanville
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Pearl River, N.Y.
High School: Pearl River
Brief Outlook of Week: Keena led the Valiant offense with three goals, highlighted by her first career multi-goal game on Monday against Saint Joseph. The junior scored the overtime winner for Manhattanville's first win of the season and followed it up by scoring the opening goal of Saturday's win over Anna Maria, moving atop the team's leaderboard with four goals on the year, making it an undefeated 2-0 week.
Defensive Player of the Week: Mackenzie Schrack
School: Immaculata
Class: Freshman
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Red Lion, Pa.
High School: Red Lion
Brief Outlook of Week: Schrack totaled 15 saves over two games, against powerhouse opponents, for the Mighty Macs. The freshman recorded a season-high nine saves in Wednesday's game against Widener, shutting them out in the second half. On Saturday, against Lebanon Valley, Schrack added six saves, helping keep the game scoreless until the 58th minute. The Red Lion, Pa., native posted a .833 save percentage on the week.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Nikki Williams, Gwynedd Mercy: In a 1-1 week, Williams recorded eight saves. She made two saves in a 1-0 shutout over Cedar Crest and six saves in a 3-2 loss to Ramapo.
Hannah Doherty, Manhattanville: Doherty recorded 16 saves and sported a 2.68 goals-against average for the week, earning her first two wins of the season and leading the Valiants to a 2-1 week. The junior made a season-high 11 saves in Monday's overtime win against Saint Joseph. She followed it up with a midweek, five save performance at FDU-Florham, before playing a scoreless 45 minutes in the start against Anna Maria on Saturday in a 5-0 victory.
Dariane Jones, Marywood: Jones contributed in a big, two-win week for Marywood. The senior dished out a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over Albright. Jones then found the back of the cage in the ninth minute and 51st minute in a 5-0 shutout at Juniata.
Liv Rosengrant, Marywood: Rosengrant helped the Marywood defense to a pair of shutout victories. The fifth-year back had a defensive save to keep a 3-0 shutout intact over Albright. Rosengrant limited Juniata to just a shot on goal in a 5-0 victory.
