Neumann’s Cappelli and Gee Sweep Field Hockey Weekly Awards

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey weekly award winners on Monday, as Neumann’s Gabriella Cappelli Player and Caley Gee took home Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Player of the Week: Gabriella Cappelli
School: Neumann
Class: Sophomore
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Phoenixville, Pa.
High School: Phoenixville
Brief Outlook of Week: Cappelli scored three goals in a 2-0 week for Neumann. In a 3-2 win at Arcadia, the sophomore scored the game-winning goal in the 41st minute to break a 2-2 game. She followed with two goals in a 2-1 win over Eastern, scoring the first goal of the game in the eighth minute. The Phoenixville, Pa, native scored her second goal in the 47th minute to break the 1-1 tie and come away with the victory.

Defensive Player of the Week: Caley Gee
School: Neumann
Class: Senior
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Baldwinsville, N.Y.
High School: Charles W. Baker
Brief Outlook of Week: Gee went 2-0 in net for the Knights over the week. In a 3-2 win at Arcadia, the senior made five saves. She followed it up with a seven save performance in a 2-1 win over Eastern.
 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Alexis Andrada, Immaculata:
Recording her first career hat trick, the sophomore led Immaculata to a 3-0 road win over Cedar Crest. Andrada scored all three goals for the Mighty Macs and was a constant threat throughout the match, finishing with five total shots throughout a strong showing away from home.

Emelina Leccese, Manhattanville: The freshman led the Valiants with a five point week. Leccese scored twice and dished out an assist in Monday's win over Albertus Magnus, playing a full 60 minutes and scoring her first collegiate game-winning goal.

Hannah Doherty, Manhattanville: Doherty earned her third win of the season with a scoreless 36:17 minute of play on Monday against Albertus Magnus, stopping the one shot she faced. On Thursday, at Sage, the goaltender made seven stops over a complete 60 minutes of action in a hard fought loss.

Dariane Jones, Marywood: Jones scored a goal and dished out an assist in a 3-0 win over King's. After assisting the game-winning goal in the ninth minute, she tallied her 100th career point on a goal in the second half, becoming the fourth member of the 100 point club in program history.

Sabrina Frazier, Marywood: Frazer tallied her second consecutive shutout in a 3-0 win over King's, making two saves in the victory.
