Former AEC Commissioner Huntley Named Women's Leaders in Sports BSN Sports Innovator of the Year

Kansas City, Mo. — Women Leaders in Sports announced its annual award recipients for 2025 earlier today. Among those honored was former Atlantic East Commissioner, Jessica Huntley

The conference’s founding commissioner was named the BSN Sports Innovator of the Year. During her time with the Atlantic East, she spearhead the launch of the first women’s flag football league sponsored by an NCAA conference. Flag football began in the Atlantic East with the first games held in the spring of 2024. The sport has continued to grow with the league adding teams and a full 12-game regular season this past spring.

Huntley departed the conference to take a position as the Senior Business Development Executive at Teamworks. There she works tirelessly to improve the student athlete experience with a focus on supporting NCAA Division II and III institutions and conferences.

“This award affirms the countless hours and unwavering belief we poured into establishing the first NCAA women's flag football conference,” said Huntley. “It reinforces the idea that bold ideas can become reality and that purposeful innovation can truly elevate the athlete experience.”

“Congratulations to Jess, I am so excited to see her work for the Atlantic East, women’s flag football, and now Teamworks be recognized,” said Atlantic East Commissioner, Rebecca Mullen. “Being able to continue her work at the conference has been an honor and I am excited to see what she is able to do next for future student athletes.”
