LYNCHBURG, Va. -- In a game that went into the hours of the morning at Liberty Baseball Field, the Saints battled against host University of Lynchburg to open up their stint in the NCAA Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two starters on the mound, with Marymount giving the ball to senior David Muirhead, tossed zeroes up on the scoreboard through two innings.
- In the top of the third, Quincy Via got the Saints going, knocking a one-out triple to right center to put himself in scoring position. Shortstop Bobby Leitzel followed it up in the next at-bat with a single up the middle to score Via and give Marymount an early lead.

- Jay Wandell, who took over on the mound for Muirhead, managed the damage in the bottom of the seventh, allowing just one run to keep Marymount within striking distance.
- The two teams didn't push a run across in the eighth, giving the Saints one final opportunity to mount their comeback.
- Ryan Cuadros opened the frame with a walk, followed by McMath punching a single to put runners on first and second with nobody gone.
- With one out, Anthony Farmakides made his way to second via an error by the Lynchburg center fielder, scoring Cuadros.
