Neumann's Boccio, Marywood's Tiedemann named Baseball Weekly Award Winners

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Baseball weekly award winners on Monday, as Neumann’s Joe Boccio and Marywood’s Danny Tiedemann won Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively.

Brief Outlook of Week:  Joe Boccio hit .563 (8-for-15) in a 2-2 overall week, 2-1 in the opening weekend of Atlantic East action. Of his eight hits, five were for extra bases (two doubles and three home runs. The junior also knocked in nine runs and scored seven. Boccio went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run in a 15-12 loss at Washington College. He knocked in three runs and scored three runs. In the three games against Immaculata, he went 5-for-11 with two home runs and a double. The junior knocked in six runs and scored four as the Knights took the series 2-1.

Brief Outlook of Week: Tiedemann went scoreless in eight innings, allowing just five hits and a walk over two games against No. 23 Keystone and Centenary. Tiedemann earned a complete game shutout to open the Atlantic East slate at Centenary. He scattered four hits and struck out three to stave off the Cyclones. Tiedmann came into the fourth inning and threw a scoreless frame in a 10-4 win over the nationally ranked Giants

Weekly Honor Roll:
Ryan Cuadros (Jr., Marymount):
Junior Ryan Cuadros put up a big week at the plate, helping the Saints start 3-0 in conference action with their sweep over Gwynedd Mercy. Hitting at a .471 clip, the third baseman drove in seven RBI with two triples and a double to slug .765 over the course of the week

Cooper Root (Sr., Gwynedd Mercy): Root went 4-for-13 (.308) in four games with a bases-loaded triple in the Griffins' Friday-night game at Marymount University and a sacrifice fly in the first game of the Saturday doubleheader with the Saints. He also pitched five innings (L, 5.0IP, 7ER, 9H, 4BB, 3K) in the finale of Gwynedd Mercy University's first AEC series of the season.

Ryan Nace (Fr., Immaculata): Ryan Nace hit a combined 5-14 (.357) with three runs scored, one home run, and seven RBIs over four games for Immaculata. Nace went 2-4 with a home run and four RBIs vs Stockton on March 25th, and went 2-3 with three RBIs in Immaculata's win over Neumann in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Tristan Gatchalain (So., Marywood): Gatchalain batted .444 with four doubles in four games for the Pacers. He drove in a team-high five RBIs en route to a 2-2 week. In a 10-4 victory over No. 23 Keystone, Gatchalain went 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles, RBIs and runs scored. He went 2 for 5 in a victory over Centenary. Gatchalain extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Joseph Frei (So., Centenary): In a 2-3 week for the Cyclones, Joseph Frei was a key contributor to Centenary's success from the batter box. Frei had 7 hits on the week, including 6 of those hits in the final 3 important conference games against Marywood, two of those hits being crushing doubles. Centenary won the series 2-1 over Marywood and Frei was a major part of the offensive onslaught. He scored 3 runs in the final 2 games and was a constant baserunner for the cyclones to knock in all week.

Jake Keenan (Sr., Centenary): Jake had 2 starts for the Cyclones this week, posting a 1-1 record, but none more important than his win over Conference rival Marywood this Saturday. In game one against Manhattanville, Jake went 3 innings striking out 2 and only allowing 3 runs in the loss, however, Jake fired back against Marywood, going 5 innings, striking out 4 and holding Marywood to just 4 runs on 7 hits.

Jordan Silvestri (Sr., Immaculata): Jordan Silvestri got the complete game win for Immaculata in the first game of the doubleheader at Neumann on Saturday, going the full seven innings, allowing four runs, and had two strikeouts.

Nick Colon (Sr., Neumann): Nick Colon picked up the win in a 7-5 win over Immaculata to open Atlantic East Action. It was the first time in 10 games the Knights defeated the Mighty Macs. In 7.0 innings, the senior allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out a pair as he improved to 3-0 on the season.

Jay Wandell (So., Marymount): Jay Wandell threw a complete game shutout against the Griffins to secure the AEC-series sweep. Allowing just three hits over 7.0 innings of work, the righty tossed a trio of strikeouts and lowered his season ERA to 2.12.
