LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Lacrosse weekly award winners on Monday, as Marywood’s Kailtyn Smith and Marymount’s Abby Dunn won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
Player of the Week:
Name: Kaitlyn Smith
School: Marywood University

Brief Outlook of Week: Smith carried the Pacers offensively to three victories with 11 goals, seven assists for 18 points. She complemented her offensive production with 24 draw controls, 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers. In a 16-11 win over Merchant Marine, Smith provided four goals and five assists for nine points. She had a dozen draw controls against Wilkes. Smith had five ground balls against both Wilkes and Wilson.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Abby Dunn
School: Marymount University
Class: Senior
Position: Defense
Hometown: Pasadena, Md.
High School: Chesapeake
Brief Outlook of Week: Across the Saints undefeated week, senior Abby Dunn locked down the defense that held opponents to just 14 goals across three games. Causing 13 total turnovers, including eight against Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, she picked up 13 total ground balls with 10 draw controls.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Nora Dornich (Jr., Centenary): Dornich in a 1-1 week for the Cyclones had nine points on the week including back-to-back 4 goal performances. She had four goals and three ground balls in the win against Old Westbury on Wednesday and followed that performance with four goals, four ground balls, and an assist in a tough loss to Eastern.
Elena Colliluori (Fr., Gwynedd Mercy): Colliluori totaled five points (4 goals, 1 assist), five ground balls, a caused turnover, and 10 draw controls in the Griffins' 15-12 win over Eastern University.
Jacki Murray (5th., Immaculata): Jacki Murray had a combined eight goals, one assist for nine points, with seven ground balls, two caused turnovers, and eight draw controls over two games for the Mighty Macs. Murray had a hand in all six goals for Immaculata in their game with Swarthmore on March 19th scoring five goals, and had an assist, with five ground balls, one caused turnover and had three draw controls. On Saturday, Murray scored all three goals for Immaculata vs Lebanon Valley. With her third goal, Murray broke the IU women's lacrosse program record for career goals with her 216th career goal for Immaculata.
Riley Love (Sr., Marymount): Riley Love collected 14 total points across the Saints' 3-0 week, accumulating four goals and 10 total assists. In Saturday's 18-6 win over Wisconsin - Eau Claire, the senior had 10 total points on three goals and seven assists. She added three ground balls to her line for the week.
Krista Geibler (Jr., Neumann): Krista Geibler scored seven goals and added three assists for 10 points and 1-2 week for Neumann. She also added three ground balls, two draw controls and five caused turnovers. In an 18-2 win at Notre Dame (Md.), the junior had a goal and two assists. In a 17-16 loss to Wooster, Geibler tallied four goals and caused three turnovers. To wrap up the week, the junior had two goals and an assist in a 19-6 loss at DeSales while grabbing two ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Autumn Thame-Knox (Fr., Centenary): Autumn Thame-Knox had a solid week for the Cyclones, which they went 1-1. Autumn in her shutout of Old Westbury had 6 saves in the win along with 5 saves in the loss to Eastern. She currently sits with a 4-1 record on the season.
Nikki Williams (So., Gwynedd Mercy): Williams totaled 15 saves and five ground balls in a 1-1 week against Eastern University (W, 15-12) and Alvernia University (L, 2-18). She made seven saves and recovered four ground balls in a win against the Eagles, then totaled eight saves and a ground ball opposite the Golden Wolves.
|Molly Schmeltzer (So., Neumann): Molly Schmeltzer caused seven turnovers and grabbed six ground balls in a 1-2 week for Neumann. She had a big hand in holding Notre Dame (Md.) to two goals in an 18-2 win to start the week. In a 17-16 loss to Wooster, the sophomore caused three turnovers and grabbed a ground ball. Against the Bulldogs, Schmeltzer grabbed four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Avery Meighan (Jr., Marywood): In three victories, Meighan helped keep opponents to six goals per game with 16 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 22 draw controls. Meighan recorded seven ground balls against both Wilkes and Wilson. In the latter win over the Phoenix, she corralled 14 draw controls. Offensively, she produced seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points.
