Marywood's Loftin and Gwynedd Mercy's Johnson Score Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Basketball weekly award winners on Monday, as Marywood’s Michel Loftin was named Player of the Week and Gwynedd Mercy’s D.J. Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Week.

School: Marywood

Position: Guard
Hometown: Atlanta, Ga.
High School: The Patrick School (N.J.)
Brief Outlook of Week: Loftin averaged 23.5 points per game in the Pacers' split in Rochester, N.Y. He scored 24 points in a 72-68 victory over Clarkson. Loftin added 23 points in a loss to Nazareth. He shot .438 from the field with a .389 mark from beyond the arc. He totaled 11 rebounds, seven assists and four steals on the week.

 

Defensive Player of the Week: D.J. Johnson
School: Gwynedd Mercy
Class: Senior

High School: Norristown
Brief Outlook of Week: Gwynedd Mercy opened the 2025-2026 season with a victory as the Griffins carried a double-digit lead for a majority of Saturday night's 70-46 triumph over Rosemont College. The Red and Gold bullied their way to the basket and capitalized on their chances at the free throw line (.842; 16-of-19) as senior guard D.J. Johnson hit 10-of-11 (.909) in an 18-point performance that came with seven rebounds and six steals. 
 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Christian Chambers, Immaculata: Chambers had an impressive two-game stretch for the Mighty Macs, totaling 39 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and three steals. He delivered a standout performance in Immaculata’s victory over Sarah Lawrence at the Wild Goose Classic on Saturday, scoring 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Chambers’ efficient scoring and defensive presence were key in leading the Macs to the win and a strong showing over the weekend.

Mandon Seapoe, Immaculata: Seapoe anchored the Mighty Macs’ defense with a dominant two-way performance over the weekend at the Wild Goose Classic. Across two games, Seapoe totaled 11 steals, 10 rebounds (including seven defensive boards), and added 12 assists while contributing 27 points on the offensive end. In Immaculata’s win over Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, Seapoe posted 13 points, four rebounds, and four steals. He followed that with a disruptive defensive outing against Washington College on Sunday, recording 14 points, six rebounds, and a game-high seven steals.

Trey Phillips, Pratt: Phillips recorded a double-double with 11 points and game-highs of 11 rebounds (eight defensive) and two blocks as Pratt battled NJCU in its season opener on Saturday.
