Marymount Picked as Women’s Cross Country Frontrunner Ahead of the 2025 Championship

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The 2025 Atlantic East Conference Women's Cross Country Championship is set for Saturday, November 1st at 11 a.m. The race will be hosted at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. hosted by Pratt Institute.

Prior to the race, the coaches from all eight institutions voted on the 2025 Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, resulting in Marymount University being tabbed the most likely, receiving 47 points and five first-place votes.

Marymount received five first place votes, totaling 47 points, in the Pre-Championship Poll. After sitting atop the leaderboard by over 20 points last year, the Saints return 2024 Rookie of the Year Brier Amerlinck, who received two Runner of the Week awards this fall. Her season was highlighted by a staggering 35th place finish in a field of 287 runners at the collegiately-renowned Paul Short Run. Last year’s third place individual finisher will be accompanied by teammate Gabrielle Weirsky, the 11th place individual finisher last year. Junior Abby Hughes has also set the pace this year and will look to reclaim a spot on an All-Conference team.

Receiving two first place votes and landing second in the poll is Marywood, totaling 43 points. The five-time Atlantic East champions will hope to reclaim their reign after Marymount won its first-ever AEC crown last time out. Paige Redman kicked off her senior campaign by setting a new personal best on the 4k. With her foot on the gas, the two-time First Team All-Conference selection did not slow down, becoming Marywood’s highest individual finisher at every single meet this fall. Returning with Redman is Bella Auchenbach, who landed a 10th place individual finish at the 2024 championships. The senior appears to be peaking at the right time, having just recorded a new 6k personal record by 39 seconds at the Connecticut College Invitational.

Earning the final first place vote with 39 total points was Immaculata, who were picked third in the poll and are highlighted by the 2023 Rookie of the Year and Runner of the Year, Aubrey Donahue. The junior set yet another program record in the 6k, clocking a 22:57.5, (6:09 average mile pace), en route to garnering her third Runner of the Week award this fall. The highly decorated, two-time First Team All-Conference selection will have her eyes on the crown after finishing in second place last year by just 1.07 seconds. Jayla Gross and Jacquie Leone, both of whom finished in the top ten last year, return with a vengeance, adding more strength to the Might Macs.

Gwynedd Mercy was selected in fourth place, receiving 27 points. The Griffins will lean into the successful first-year, Abigail Flannery, who received one Runner of the Week award this fall. Flannery’s freshman campaign has been highlighted by a 15th place individual finish at the DeSales Invitational, being the third-highest freshman finisher at the meet.

Picked fifth was Pratt after receiving 22 points. Graduate student Coralie Norenberg added a first-place individual finish to her cabinet at the Queensborough Cross Country Invitational, sitting atop the field of 159 runners. The Cannoneers finished second at that meet off the back of a fourth place team finish at the Golden Eagle Invitational. Giovinna Lisa, Pratt’s highest finisher at the 2024 championships, will hope to break into the top-10 in her final campaign.

Neumann received 20 points, placing them sixth in the poll. Ingrid Swarez-Ramirez is one to watch for Neumann, having been the women’s highest individual finisher throughout the season.

Centenary landed seventh in the poll with 17 points. The Cyclones finished sixth at least year’s championship meet, with the bright spot of McKenna Kerry finishing 12th place.

Wrapping up the field of eight is Saint Elizabeth who received eight points in the Eagles’ inaugural Atlantic East cross country season.

The women's 6k race is set to begin at 11am with the men's 8k race kicking things off at 10am. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 12:30 pm where the following will be recognized: Team Champion, Team Runner-Up, First-Team and Second Team All-Conference, Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year, and Elite Scholar Athlete Award recipient.
