LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and major award winners on Thursday afternoon, as Cabrini, Marymount, and Gwynedd Mercy each picking up awards.
Cabrini’s
Connor Herraiz was named 2024 Player of the Year. The sophomore led the conference with 4.17 goals per game during conference play. In the full season Herraiz finished with 62 goals for 3.26 per game for the season. The sophomore also tallied 26 assists for 98 points in 19 games. Herraiz led the Cavaliers to an undefeated conference record and a fifth straight Atlantic East Conference Title.
Sophomore
Bear Evans was named Defensive Player of the Year. He led a strong defensive contention of the Cavaliers. Evans caused 42 turnovers and 2.21 per game for the season. He had 13 in the six conference games. As a team they allowed the fewest goals per game at 7.94.
Rookie of the Year honors went to Marymount’s
Spencer Carfang. The first year caused 13 turnovers and 21 groundballs in the 19 games. He helped lead Marymount to third in the regular season and third straight appearance in the conference championship.
Gwynedd Mercy coaching staff were awarded Coaching Staff of the year. The Griffins were led to a second straight to conference regular season runner up finish. They are led by Blasé Cesarone, assisted by Austin Mutter, Nick Heiler, Jacob Snavely, and Brandon Brown.
Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for men's lacrosse, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to Jason Fridge of Cabrini University. Fridge received the honor for the second straight season as he maintains a cumulative 4.0 GPA in his first three years at Cabrini. For the entire selection criteria and process,
