LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday morning, as Cabrini University swept the awards.
Cabrini’s Dillon McManus was named 2023 Player of the Year. The senior led the conference with 3.17 goals per game tallying 57 in the 18 games for the Cavaliers. He finished with 79 points 4.39 per game which was fourth across the conference. He led Cabrini to an undefeated conference record and a their fourth straight Atlantic East Title.
Graduate student Matt Hughes from Cabrini repeated as Defensive Player of the Year. He led a strong defensive contention of the Cavaliers. As a team they allowed the fewest goals per game at 7.94.
Rookie of the year honors went to Sam DiTrolio after an incredible first campaign with the Cavaliers. The first years leads all of NCAA DIII with a .735 win percentage in faceoffs, as he collected 164 out of the 223 faceoffs he saw this season.
Cabrini coaching staff were awarded Coaching Staff of the year. They are led by Steve Colfer, assisted by Kevin Camp, Stephen Hill, Kyle Tucker, Tommy DeLuca, and Jack Phaup. Colfer led the Cavaliers to an undefeated conference record finishing with 140 straight conference victories. The team went 14-4 and will continue its vie for a second National Championship with a second round match up on Saturday, May 13th.
Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for men's lacrosse, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to Jason Fridge of Cabrini University.
