Drew's Reflection On Time At Marymount: “Becoming a student athlete at Marymount University was truly one of the best decisions of my life. Not only from the experiences, lifelong friends, and knowledge that I have gained while being on campus, but just the overall development of character and leadership that has come with it. In my 4 years as a Marymount baseball player, my team and I have dedicated a great deal of time serving our community. Giving back to our community is instilled in our program values and culture. Despite this year being challenging with Covid-19, we still managed to make an impactful presence on the community and touch the lives of others through our work with VS. Cancer, local food drives, and the American Heart Association. Yet, the most influential and most rewarding was working with Team Impact and gaining a new teammate named Liam. Through hearing his story and all of the medical procedures that he has to go through on a monthly basis just to live, it really puts life into perspective. Not only did we receive an irreplaceable team member but we got a first-hand experience into what true strength, grit, and determination to live life to the fullest truly embodies. Getting to know Liam and participating in these worthy causes and events has transformed my leadership skills as a teammate, student and overall person tremendously. These opportunities have helped me realize the overall impact that a cohesive team can have. That stands true for anything in life, team efforts will always outweigh any individual endeavor. So, it is important to have the right people around you and in your corner on a daily basis. At Marymount, the professors, coaches, trainers, and administrators all push and encourage me to be the best person that I can be. Being a student athlete has made such a profound and long lasting impact on my life to become the leader and man I want to be.”
