Vaughns, Reaves Awarded Men's Basketball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday, as Neumann University's Jalen Vaughns earned Player of the Week and Marymount's Xavier Reaves grabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

Player of the Week:
Name: Jalen Vaughns
School: Neumann University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward/Guard
Hometown: Tobyhanna, PA
High School: Pocono Mountain West
Brief Outlook of Week: Vaughns averaged 27.0 (23-for-30) points in a 2-0 week for Neumann. In a 94-71 win over Bryn Athyn, the sophomore scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. In the 93-57 win at Penn State Lehigh, Vaughns scored 30 points.


Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Xavier Reaves
School: Marymount University
Class: Senior
Position: Guard
Hometown: Burtonsville, MD
High School: Paint Branch
Brief Outlook of Week: Reaves led the Saints to a 2-0 mark last week with wins over Bridgewater College and Eastern Mennonite University. The Senior averaged 17.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Against Bridgewater, Reaves scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed eight boards all while going 8-for-12 from the floor. He chipped in a game-high-tying six steals to frustrate the Eagles. Against the Royals, Reaves poured in a game-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 24 minutes of action. He continued to showcase his two-way play with four steals to help MU seal the 67-55 win.


Weekly Honor Roll:
Aquil Stewart (Cabrini / Sophomore): Stewart scored a career best 31 points in last week's 86-84 loss to Rosemont. The sophomore shot 11-20 from the field, including 7-10 from three point range, recorded 6 assists and three steals in 31 minutes of action.

Corey Perkins (Marywood / Sophomore): Perkins had a team-high seven rebounds (all defensive) and a game-high six assists to go along with 10 points, three steals and a block in the Pacers' 92-84 win at Wilkes midweek. The win snapped a three-game skid and was Marywood's first over the Colonels since the '17-18 season.

D'Angelo Blackmond (Centenary / Junior): Blackmond had game-high 12 rebounds and a block to go along with 20 points in the Cyclones' win over Valley Forge. Blackmond yanked down 10 of his 12 rebounds on the defensive boards for his second straight double-double and third in five games this season. Blackmond was effective shooting the ball as he went 9-for-11 from the field and 2-for-4 from the foul line. He also had two assists and a block in the game.
