Neumann's Illian and Petruzzelli Sweep Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Soccer weekly award winners on Tuesday, as Neumann’s Jordan Illian and Dominic Petruzzelli swept Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

Player of the Week:
Name: Jordan Illian
School: Neumann
Class: Junior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Millsboro, Del.
High School: Indian River
Brief Outlook of Week: Illian had a goal and an assist as Neumann opened up the season 1-1. The junior finished with 11 shots, four coming on goal. In a 2-1 win over Lycoming, Illian assisted on the opening goal of the game. He then scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of action.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Dominic Petruzzelli
School: Neumann
Class: Senior
Position: Defender
Hometown: Warminster, Pa.   
High School: Archbishop Wood
Brief Outlook of Week: Petruzzelli quarterbacked the Knights defense as they went 1-1 to open the 2025 season. Along with Carter Gorczyca, Jason DiFillippo and keeper Carter Metzger, Neumann allowed 19 shots overall and just five on net. In a 2-1 win over Lycoming, the Warriors had just two shots on net. The next day, in a 2-0 loss to Gettysburg, the Knights held the Bullets to just three shots on net.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Jack Forbes, Marywood: Forbes scored two goals to lead the Pacers to a win over Wilkes and a loss to RPI. Forbes had a brace in a 3-2 victory over the Colonels. He broke the 1-1 tie with the game-winning goal in the 74th minute. After his penalty kick was saved, Forbes converged on the rebound to score.

Dylan Costa, Pratt: Costa scored the lone goal for Pratt in their season-opening 2-1 defeat on the road to SUNY Cobleskill. His 22nd-minute goal sent both teams into the lockers tied at 1-1 and he finished the game with a game-high four shots, all on goal.
