Pratt's Verghese Awarded Back-to-Back Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Tennis weekly award winners on Monday, as Pratt’s Pallavi Verghese was awarded back-to-back Player of the Week awards.  

Player of the Week: Pallavi Verghese
School: Pratt
Class: Junior
Hometown: Fayetteville, Ark.
High School: Fayetteville
Brief Outlook of Week: Verghese continued her impressive form with victories in both singles and doubles, helping lead Pratt to a 5-2 home win over Rutgers-Camden on Sunday. The win handed RUC just their second loss of the season, dropping them to 6-2. Last week’s Player of the Week delivered a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and partnered with Beatrice Crespo for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, the Cannoneers’ lone doubles victory of the day.


Weekly Honor Roll:
Hailey Elwell, Immaculata: Elwell stepped up for Immaculata on September 29, filling in at No. 1 singles and delivering a thrilling 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 victory to help propel her team to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Lancaster Bible. Elwell also teamed up with her partner to secure a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, contributing decisively in both singles and doubles to the team's hard-fought triumph.

Avianna Santarelli, Marywood: Santarelli won both of her singles matches to extend Marywood's season-opening winning streak to four. She won her No. 3 singles match against Misericordia in three sets by 2-6, 7-5 [10-6] scores. Santarelli had a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the third singles flight against Susquehanna.
