A three-year student-athlete for the Saints, Viniard Choate remains stapled in Marymount history as an extremely decorated player on the court. Earning a plethora of honors, including AVCA All-American and AVCA All-East Region in 2018, she was a member of two Atlantic East Championship teams. Making the trip to the NCAA Tournament twice, she was a key member of the squad that made it all the way to the NCAA Division III Tournament Regional Finals.

Off of the court, Viniard Choate succeeded in the classroom, proving to be the pinnacle example of a Marymount Athletics student-athlete.

A member of the Atlantic East All-Academic Team, the Williamsburg, Va. native received numerous honors, including the Academic Achievement cords, the Athlete Honor Society cords, and Cum Laude upon graduation. She finished her degree with a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing.

"Maggie found great success both in the classroom and on the volleyball court as a Marymount student-athlete. Yet, I believe her true legacy lies beyond any grade or stat," stated Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development, Ryan Wildenhain. "Her greatest achievement was the way she made everyone around her better, all without expecting recognition. Maggie will always be remembered as a fierce competitor, a vibrant soul, and someone who was always authentically herself."

Upon graduation, Viniard Choate worked as a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter in Norfolk, Va.

Viniard Choate married Saints men's volleyball student-athlete Connor Choate, who she met during her years at Marymount.
