Marywood's Mulherin, Alston sweep Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women’s Soccer weekly award winners on Monday, as Marywood’s Riley Mulherin and Rylee Alston won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

Player of the Week:
Name: Riley Mulherin
School: Marywood  
Class: Senior
Position: Forward
Hometown: Clarks Summit, Pa.   
High School: Abington Heights
Brief Outlook of Week: Mulherin scored three goals and an assist in a seven-point effort against SUNY Canton. Mulherin finished with a hat trick in the opening 57 minutes of the Pacers' 5-0 victory over the Kangaroos. She only needed 19 seconds to deliever an assist to Josephine Sorce. It was the Clarks Summit, Pa. native's fifth career hat trick and her third hat trick versus the Roos. Marywood finished 2-0 on the week with wins over Canton and Alvernia.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Rylee Alston
School: Marywood

Position: Defensive Midfielder
Hometown: Endwell, N.Y.   
High School: Maine-Endwell
Brief Outlook of Week: Alston helped the Pacers defense to a pair of shutouts over Alvernia and SUNY Canton. She limited the Kangaroos to one shot on target in a 5-0 victory. Alston's defense kept the Golden Wolves to four shots in the Pacers' fifth clean sheet of the season.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Rachel McNamee (Sr., Immaculata): Rachel McNamee returned to the Immaculata line up to score the eventual game winner in the Immaculata's 1-0 win over Rosemont on September 17th. McNamee generated a combined eight shots including four on goal in Immaculata's two games this week.
 
Natalie Morris (Jr., Gwynedd Mercy): Morris recorded a goal (1-0, 1:45) and an assist (3-0, 67:37) in Gwynedd Mercy University's 6-2 win over the University of Valley Forge (Sept. 16), before recording the only Griffin goal (1-0, 20:05) of a 2-1 loss to Penn State Abington (Sept. 19). She also took a shot in the Red and Gold's 3-0 loss at Wilson College (Sept. 21).
 
Emily Guthier (Jr., Immaculata): Emily Guthier made a combined six saves on a combined 23 shots faced in Immaculata's two games this week. She recorded her second career shut out against Rosemont on September 17th, and made five saves in their game against Penn State Abington.
 
Natalie Gablein (Jr., Gwynedd Mercy): Gablein was sensational in net during a 2-1 loss to Penn State Abington on September 18. She finished with seven saves, but most of her work came during the corner kick opportunities for the Nittany Lions. Gablein shut down all opportunities for Penn State Abington during those attempts as she had great positioning to catch the ball on the corner kick not allowing any shots or havoc in front of the Griffin goal.
 
Hannah Mockenhaupt (Sr., Marymount): Senior goalkeeper Hannah Mockenhaupt kept the Blazers of Hood College off of the board in Friday's matchup, punching away a pair of saves. Across the 0-1-1 week for the Saints, Mockenhaupt collected five total saves.
