Lancaster, Pa. – Division champion Marymount defeated Penn State Behrend 5-2 in the Atlantic East Conference Championship to earn the third straight title in Men’s Tennis.
The Saints took the 2-1 lead after doubles and continued the success with their singles matches. The Saints pairings of Stromberg and Degamwar defeated Laier and Griffin 8-4. Penn State Behrend received the first points with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles for Sinnott and Piazza over Torrecillas and Tesfaye. The final doubles matched went to Marymount with Stanilus and Zieler defeating Thomas and Vunora 8-3.
In singles matches the lions picked up a win at No. 4 Thomas over Marymounts No. 4 Tesfaye (6-2, 6-2). Singles 1-3 saw Marmount victories with No. 1 Stromberg over Laier (6-1, 6-2). No. 2 Degamwar won 6-1, 6-0 over Penn States Behrend’s Sinnott. The final match to finish was No. 3 singles with Torrecillas over Piazza.
