Marymount Sweeps Major Awards for Women's Tennis, All Conference Announced

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Tennis All-Conference teams and major award winners on Thursday, with Marymount taking home all four major honors.

Fabienne Fritz was named Player of the Year after an undefeated conference record at No. 1 singles. She also played No. 1 doubles throughout the season, staying unblemished in conference play. Fritz picked up a 8-5 overall record all played at No. 1 singles.

Teammate Sofia Lucero earned Rookie of the Year after going 3-0 in conference play at No. 2 singles for the Saints. Lucero teamed up with Fritz for No. 1 doubles to stay undefeated in conference play. For the season Lucero finished with an 8-4 record at No. 2 singles and a 2-0 mark at No. 3 singles.

Marymount garnered Coaching Staff of the Year after finishing with a perfect conference record and the Atlantic East title for the second straight season. The Saints are led by Tim Bainton and assisted by Jack Tiene, Scott Farmer, and David Evinger.

Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for women's tennis, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to Sofi Plotkin of Marymount. The sophomore maintains a cumulative 3.98 GPA. For the entire selection criteria and process, click here.
