Top Women's Swim Awards go to St. Mary's and Marymount as All Conference Announced

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the 2024 Women's Swimming Major Award Winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday afternoon as St. Mary’s and Marymount each collect major awards.

Swimmer/Rookie of the Year honors went to first year Kelsie Miller who had an incredible first Atlantic East Conference Championship Meet. The Rockvill, Md. Native won each of her three individual events while setting eight conference records in the process. Miller earned an NCAA B cut time in the 100-yard butterfly with a 54.95 in her preliminary swim. This time is under the NCAA invite time from a season ago. Miller earned the title in the 200-yard individual medley with a preliminary conference record time of 2:08.25. Her final individual gold medal came in the 200-yard butterfly with a morning time of 2:06.89. The first year also broke records leading off the 200-yard freestyle relay (24.11), and the leadoff of the 800-yard freestyle relay (1:55.02). She combined with St. Mary’s teammates won gold medals in those two relays as well as the 400-yard freestyle relay.

St. Mary’s was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year, as voted on by the coaches of the conference. St. Mary’s is led by Casey Brandt and assisted by Christian March, Carolyn Sutton, and Zach Shattuck.

Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for women's swimming, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, is Isabella Ochalik from Marymount University. Senior Ochalik maintains a 4.0 while majoring in biochemistry.
