LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference is pleased to announce our upcoming event the Career in Sports Symposium. Today we introduce our panel as the final group of presenters at the networking portion of the event.
“We put together a diverse panel of different careers in sports and look forward to each of them sharing their experiences," said Commissioner
Jessica Huntley. “This programming is set to help our conference students prepare for their life after college with the resources to follow their dreams.”
Below is a brief description of each participant’s career journey to their current role.
Camden Belvins - Assistant Athletic Trainer, Immaculata
- Belvins has experience at the DIII level as well as DI experience through her clinical at the University of Delaware. There she worked with both the women’s lacrosse and football teams.
Kiana De Jesus - Producer/ Public Relations and Social Media, Sports Fan Base Network
- De Jesus works as a producer as well as the public relations and social media manager for Sports Fan Base Network. She also teaches to continue to share her knowledge and help others grow creatively. She has worked events at different local schools including Cabrini broadcasts.
Paulette Franklin, Women’s Basketball Official
- Franklin has been officiating for over two decades. She is currently the assignor of high schools officials in the Maryland area. She is passionate about teaching and training as well as recruiting new officials to the field/court.
Dr. Ashley Hodges - Director of Athletics and Wellness, Notre Dame of Maryland
- Hodges started in the college athletics field as an athletic trainer before transitioning to an administrative role. She has been a member of the NCAA DIII Nominating Committee as well as the Advisory Committee. She currently leads Notre Dame as they have recently transitioned to a coed institution and continue to add sports.
Jessica Huntley - Commissioner, Atlantic East
- Huntley is the first and only commissioner of the Atlantic East. She transitioned to the role after working as an Associate Commissioner at the Centennial Conference. She has also worked with basketball programs at Bay Path College and as the director of men’s basketball operations at Harvard.
Jayson Hyman - Head Men’s Basketball Coach/Assistant Athletic Director
- Hyman is an alum of Immaculata. Since graduation he has worked with both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Currently he is the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and also the Assistant Athletic Director.
Katie Lytle - Assistant Director of Athletics, Budget & Planning, Princeton
- Lytle transitioned this past year from DIII Catholic to the business office at Princeton. In her current role she works with budgets in management, forecasting and financial reporting. She was a two sport DIII student athlete as a member of the basketball and track and field teams at Swarthmore.
Rebecca Mullen - Assistant Commissioner/ SWA, Atlantic East
- Mullen has worked within a conference as well as on campuses around the country. She coached swimming at Stevens Institute of Technology, and worked as an Assistant Director of Athletics at Elmhurst before returning to the Atlantic East and the conference side of things.
Ellen O’Brien, Associate Athletics Director for Compliance/SWA, Marymount
- O’Brien worked at the DII Conference office for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. While being responsible for compliance, O’Brien also manages scheduling, facilities, and oversees 12 of the 22 varsity sports. She has coached basketball at the DIII level as well.
Julie Trott - Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation/Head Field Hockey Coach, Marywood
- The Marywood alum graduated in 2012. She began work at Marywood as an assistant after college and was elevated to head coach in 2019. This past summer she added administrative duties with budgeting, transportation, and student-athlete affairs.
Megan Tustin - Director of Athletic Facilities & Game Day Operations, Haverford
- The Cabrini alum went on to work at Arcadia before moving to her role at Haverford. She works directly with the student workers in setting up game day management and procedures while also being responsible for facility schedules and maintenance. She has served as the Assistant Tournament director for the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship among her work at other large events.
Jill Weigel - Athletic Communications Director, Neumann
- Weigel has worked at Neumann since 2008 with some prior experience at both NCAA DII and DI schools. At each she worked on all aspects of the ever evolving communications field. She also works with the Blue Rocks, the High A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Lauren Yancer - Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, Gwynedd Mercy
- Yancer was a first year head coach for the Gwynedd Women’s Volleyball program this past fall where she earned coaching staff of the year recognition. The 2021 Gwynedd Mercy alum also works at the university as a marketing and public relations manager.
