Marywood's Tomada, Heintzelman sweep Field Hockey Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey weekly award winners on Monday, as Marywood’s Maria Tomada and Aliyah Heintzelman won Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

Player of the Week:
Name: Maria Tomada

Brief Outlook of Week: Tomada led Marywood to a pair of Atlantic East victories with three goals and two assists for eight points. She scored a hat trick in a 6-0 victory over Neumann, including two goals in the opening 13 minutes. Tomada assisted both of Marywood's goals in a 2-1 double overtime win over Immaculata in a battle for the top of the Atlantic East standings. The Argentinian graduate student assisted a Dariane Jones goal in the 40th minute. She delivered a corner pass strike that Jones put into the cage for the game-winner in the 73rd minute.

Brief Outlook of Week: Heintzelman helped lead Marywood to a 2-0 week in Atlantic East play by limiting opposing offenses to just .5 goals per game. Heintzelman's defensive crew kept Neumann to just one shot on target in a 6-0 victory. She was instrumental in Marywood's 2-1 double overtime victory. Heintzelman made a key tackle in overtime on a breakaway chance to keep the Mighty Macs out of the circle. 
 
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mackenzie Reed (Jr., Gwynedd Mercy): Rested and eager to open their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) season, Gwynedd Mercy University celebrated their senior class with an impressive 5-0 triumph over Neumann University. The Griffins' offensive outburst was headlined by a seven-point performance by junior midfielder Mackenzie Reed who followed an opening goal from senior defender Laura Filchner with a tally at the end of the 33rd minute and assisted Filchner on her second score in the 38th minute before caging two more shots for her second career hat trick. Reed took seven of the Griffins' 16 shots.
 
Laura Flichner (Sr., Gwynedd Mercy): Rested and eager to open their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) season, Gwynedd Mercy University celebrated their senior class with an impressive 5-0 triumph over Neumann University. Kailey Mayoros (So., Immaculata): Kailey Mayoros had two goals and was part of all three goals for Immaculata this week. She had the game-winning goal in Immaculata's 2-0 win over Cedar Crest on October 14th and put the shot on goal that led to Immaculata's second goal in the 2-0 win. Mayoros scored in the fourth quarter for Immaculata to tie their conference game with Marywood which sent the game to overtime on Saturday.
 
Julia Levase (Sr., Immaculata): Julia Levase made a season-high 16 saves on 30 shots faced against Marywood in their double overtime Atlantic East Conference game on October 19th. Four of Levase 16 saves were in the overtime periods.
