Cabrini's Gallagher and St. Mary's McDonald Named Field Hockey Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. -  The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey Players of the Week for weeks games through Monday, September 4th. Cabrini’s Caroline Gallagher and  Caroline McDonald of St. Mary’s were named Player and Defensive Player of the Week respectively.

Player of the Week:
Name: Caroline Gallagher
School: Cabrini
Class: Senior
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Cape May Courthouse, N.J.   
High School: Middle Township
Brief Outlook of Week: A significant piece of the Cabrini offense, Caroline broke the 100 mark for career points in a Cabrini uniform.  She reached this milestone scoring a 2nd quarter goal against VA Wesleyan on Saturday, later adding her 4th goal of the season in the third quarter.  Her two goals that game propelled her into the top 5 all-time goal scorers in Cabrini Field Hockey.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Caroline McDonald
School: St. Mary’s
Class: First Year
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Frederick, Md.
High School: Tuscarora
Brief Outlook of Week: McDonald made three saves in her first career start and collegiate debut, helping the Seahawks post a 2-1 win over No. 16 Washington and Lee.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Megan Keaveney, (Gr., Forward, Manhattanville) -After picking up a field hockey stick for the first time in her life halfway through last season, Keaveney returned to the Valiants for her graduate year by opening up the new campaign with a three goal week. She scored both of Manhattanville's goals in their season-opening contest at Oswego on Friday…Keaveney added her third tally of the season in Sunday's showdown vs Dean as the Valiants won their first home-opener since 2019…Played a full 120 minutes across the two games.

Briana Allen, (So., Forward, St. Mary’s) - Allen notched the game-winning goal as the Seahawks took down No. 16 Washington and Lee, 2-1, on Friday. This was Allen's first career game played and first career goal after sitting out her entire rookie season with injury.
