Three Teams Earn Major Honors As Women's Basketball All Conference Teams Announced

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball All-Conference teams and major award winners on Monday afternoon, as Marymount University, Gwynedd Mercy University, and Cabrini University grabbed major honors. 

Marymount’s 2021-22 Rookie of the Year Chandler Eddleton earned the 2022-23 Player of the Year honors. Gwynedd Mercy’s Haley Crossley had an incredible year to earn Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Cabrini’s Ella Gordon had a breakout season to be named the Rookie of the Year. The Coaching staff at Marymount repeated as Coaching Staff of the Year.

Eddleton led the conference shooting percentage at 53.2% from the field in conference games. She was a force for the Marymount Saint that won the conference title with only one conference loss on the season. The junior finished fifth in points per game with 15.2, as well as in rebounds with 8.1 per game. The Saints leader averaged 1.9 assists per game and 1.9 steals per game.

Haley Crossley led the Griffins to a second seed in the Atlantic East Tournament. In conference play Crossley led the league with 10.8 rebounds per game. The senior led the conference with 2.3 steals per game and was sixth in the league with .8 blocked shots per game.

Marymount University was led to a conference title with second year head coach of the Saints Margaret White. White, assisted by Aprile Preller and Kelliann Jenkins, will guide Marymount to the NCAA tournament.

Cabrini's Ella Gordon earned Rookie of the Year honors. The first year helped lead the Cavaliers to the conference championship game. She tallied 6.6 points per game. She also ranked tenth in the conference with 2.2 assists per game and 62 total on the season.

Finally, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for women's basketball, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, is Grace Damata fromm Marymount.
