Four Teams Receive Major Honors as Men's Soccer All Conference Announced

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men's Soccer All-Conference teams and major awards on Tuesday, as four teams earned major recognition. The All-Conference teams are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Marymount junior Leonardo Torres repeated as Atlantic East Player of the Year. The forward finished the season with 18 goals for 36 points including five game winning goals. In conference play he had seven goals with one game winning goal. Torres has been recognized each year for his offense being named the 2021 Rookie of the Year as well. The junior averaged .947 goals per game throughout the nineteen game season.

Jake Scully earned Defensive Player of the Year after leading Cabrini to second in the conference standings and finishing the season as the Atlantic East Runner Ups. The center back was a strong defensive force for the Cavaliers shifting throughout the field for long throw-ins and clears throughout the season.

Rookie of the Year honors went to Gwynedd Mercy’s Andre Medl. The first year led the Griffins to their first and second conference win for the first time since 2019. Medl helped Gwynedd Mercy return to the first round of the Atlantic East Playoffs.

The Atlantic East Elite 20 Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the final site of the championship and finishing in the top two teams. This year's award winner for men’s soccer is Neumann’s Alex Pobre. The sophomore maintains a 4.0 in Data Science and Analytics.

Neumann University was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year after posting a 9-4-3 overall record and 4-0-2 in conference. The Knights won the Atlantic East Conference Title and earned a trip to the NCAA tournament.
