Lancaster, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the 2022 Cross Country major award winners and All-Conference teams on Friday. The top 14 finishers at the conference championship made up the all-conference squads.
Michael McCann headlined as Runner and Rookie of the Year with a first-place finish in the 8k race on Saturday, October 29th with a time of 27:10.2. Marywood, the 2022 champions landed eight All-Conference team members.
On the Women’s side Marywood’s Hayley Gaines took the Runner of the Year honors with a first-place finish in the 6k event with a time of 24:50.0. Rookie of the year honors went to Marywood’s Kaitlyn Newberry who finished the 6k course second overall in 25:02.2. Marywood was named the 2022 Women’s Cross Country Champions as well, finishing with eight runners in the All-Conference spots.
Coaching Staff of the Year for both the men’s and women’s teams went to the coaching staff at Marywood with their incredible finishes.
The Atlantic East Elite 20 Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the final site of the championship. This year's award winner for women's cross country was also the Runner of the Year, Hayley Gaines of Marywood. On the men’s side, Ian Kovatch of Marywood was named the Elite 20 Award winner.
The full all-conference teams are listed below. Finishers 1-7 earned first-team while 8-14 earned second-team.
