Tzitzis, Needhman Earn Women's Soccer Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Soccer Weekly Awards on Tuesday afternoon, naming Victoria Tzitzis of Marywood University offensive player of the week and Grace Needham of Marymount University defensive player of the week. 

Offensive Player of the Week:
Name: Victoria Tzitzis
School: Marywood University
Class: Sophomore
Position: Forward
Hometown: Marlboro, NJ
High School: Marlboro
Brief Outlook of Week: Tzitzis tallied three goals (one game-winner) and an assist in an opening 1-1 week for the Pacers. In Wednesday's opening win over Keystone, she recorded a hat-trick and followed with an assist on Marywood's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to South Atlantic regional power Montclair State. For the week, Tzitzis had 15 shots, six of which she placed on goal.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Grace Needham
School: Marymount University
Class: Freshman
Position: Goalie
Hometown: Newton, PA
High School: Council Rock North
Brief Outlook of Week: Needham was thrown into the fire to start her career as the rookie got the starting nod in goal for Marymount's first two games of the year. The Newton, Pennsylvania native, tallied eight saves across two contests with a.571 save percentage. Her best performance came against St. Mary's, where she stopped five shots and posted an .833 save percentage.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Victoria Talarico (Marywood / Freshman / Goalie): Talarico made four stops against South Atlantic regional power Montclair State University to give the Pacers a shot at an upset bid. After replacing an injured Rebekah Becker, Talarico played the game's final 80 minutes, making four stops, including several at point blank range. The Pacers would fall to the Red Hawks 2-1. Talarico also played 15 minutes in goal in the Pacers' season-opening win over Keystone.
