LANCASTER, Pa. - Following a vote amongst the league's head coaches, Cabrini University grabbed the top spot in the 2021 Atlantic East Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll after earning 35 of a possible 36 points.
Cabrini secured their first-ever Atlantic East championship in 2019 with a 2-0 victory over Marywood. With 5 first-place votes, the Cavaliers are looking to repeat as champions of the conference this season.
The 2018 league champions, Marywood University, landed second in the poll with 28 points while Immaculata University finished third in the poll with 26 points. Both teams earned 1 first-place vote and look to dethrone the reigning conference champions.
Centenary University enters its first season of Atlantic East competition after being added as a full-member of the conference in 2021. The Cyclones were slotted fourth in the poll with 21 points.
Making up the rest of the ledger were Marymount University with 19 points, Neumann University with 12 points and Gwynedd Mercy University with 6 points, respectively.
All seven schools open up the 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1. Conference play begins Saturday, October 2 with a contest between Marymount and Centenary.
The 2021 Atlantic East Tournament is set to commence with quarterfinal action Monday, November 1, followed by the semi finals Wednesday, November 3 and the championship contest on Saturday, November 6.
