LANCASTER, Pa. - In the first year of the new Atlantic East Conference, seven institutions battled for the right to be named conference champions. A successful year saw all seven schools earn at least one championship. To conclude the 2018-19 academic year, the league office is proud to announce the first-ever Atlantic East Commissioner's Awards and Mike Drass Trophy.

The awards are based on a point system for 20 different conference sports in the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. For more information on the point system, please click here.

In the first year, the Atlantic East Commissioner's Men's Award goes to Cabrini University and the Atlantic East Commissioner's Women's Award goes to Marywood University. The Mike Drass Trophy, named after the late Mike Drass, former Athletics Director and Football Coach for Wesley College, was earned by the Cavaliers, totaling 121 points through all conference sports. Drass was the AD for the Wolverines from May 2003 until his tragic passing in May 2018, while also heading one of the most successful DIII football programs in the country for 26 seasons. He was a critical piece to the seven founding members of the Atlantic East Conference.

On the men's side, Cabrini held a 19-point advantage over second-place Neumann University to earn the Commissioner's Award with 61 points. On the women's side, the Cavs fell short of the champion Pacers by 10 points, as Marywood took the crown with 70 points.

The Cavs for the men won four conference championships and were regular-season champions in four sports. The Pacers for the women won three conference championships while adding another regular-season championship in there from the women's lacrosse team.

With 61 points on the men's side and 60 points on the women's side, the Cavs withstood the Pacers in the Mike Drass Trophy race by 10 points. Marywood, with 111 points, was followed by Marymount University with 92 points, Neumann with 87 points, Gwynedd Mercy University with 78 points, Wesley College with 71 points, and Immaculata University with 59 points.
