Atlantic East Announces Men's Track and Field Major Awards and All-Conference

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference has announced its major award winners for Men’s Track and Field after the 2025 Atlantic East Championship. The award winners were nominated by their coaches, based on their performances at the championship meet. 

Gwynedd Mercy swept the Track Athlete of the Year award and the Field Athlete of the Year award as Victor Cruz won the Track award and Tyson Scheitrum won the Field award. 

Brandon Reed of Marywood took the Rookie of the Year award, with teammate Scott Gartley winning the Elite 20 Award given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championship site. 

Marywood was awarded the Coaching Staff of the Year by their peers. 

In addition, student-athletes who won their events were named first-team All-AEC, while student-athletes who finished second were named second-team All-AEC. 

Cruz, a repeat selection, headlined the Red and Gold's performance with his first-place finishes in the 100-Meter (11.01), 200-Meter (22.2), and 400-Meter (49.19), as well as his contribution to the 4x100-Meter Relay (3rd, 43.77) and 4x400-Meter Relay (2nd, 3:33.56).

The Red and Gold also enjoyed a first-place Hammer (43.34m) and Discus (38.06m) from Scheitrum

Reed earned the Most Valuable Performer award, earning the most points at the championships. Reed won the long jump in 21 feet, 10 1/4 inches (66m). He garnered the high jump gold medal, clearing a height of 5 feet, 10 3/4 inches (1.80m). He came in second place in the 100 dash with a finals time of 11.2 seconds.

Gartley has a 3.98 in History/Pre-Law and finished fourth in the high jump and javelin. 

Finally, Marywood won its sixth straight Atlantic East title.
