Neumann's Cappelli and Immaculata's Schrack Record Second Field Hockey Weekly Award Honors of the Season

HADDONFIELD, N.J. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey weekly award winners on Monday, as Neumann’s Gabriella Cappelli and Immaculata’s Mackenzie Schrack took home Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Player of the Week: Gabriella Cappelli
School: Neumann
Class: Sophomore
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Phoenixville, Pa.
High School: Phoenixville
Brief Outlook of Week: Cappelli had a goal and an assist in a 1-1 overall, 1-0 conference week for the Knights. The sophomore tallied two shots in a loss at Widener before assisting on the game-tying goal in a 3-1 win over Manhattanville. The sophomore then scored an insurance goal to secure the win. 

Defensive Player of the Week: Mackenzie Schrack
School: Immaculata
Class: Freshman
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Red Lion, Pa.
High School: Red Lion
Brief Outlook of Week: Shrack totaled 16 saves over 90 minutes of play across two games for Immaculata, continuing her strong run of form. On October 8, she played the second half against St. Mary’s (Md.), making eight saves on 10 shots faced. Later in the week, she delivered a standout performance in a 1-0 shutout victory over The College of Wooster. Shrack turned away all eight shots she faced, including an incredible sequence of four successive saves during a goalmouth scramble to preserve the narrow lead and secure the win. The freshman averaged a .889 save percentage on the week.



Weekly Honor Roll: 

Gabrielle O’Brien, Immaculata: O’Brien scored the decisive goal in Immaculata’s 1-0 victory over The College of Wooster on Friday. Her goal held up as the game-winner, securing a memorable Senior Day win for her and Immaculata.

Hannah Doherty, Manhattanville: The junior made 15 saves across a pair of contests last week. Doherty recorded four saves on Tuesday in a double overtime clash against Hartford and followed it up with 11 stops, tying her season-high, in the opening match of conference play on Saturday against Neumann.

Olivia Seidel, Marywood: Seidel scored in each of Marywood's contests this week. She scored one goal in a close  3-1 loss to Misericordia before tying the game in the 14th minute with a goal during the Pacers' 3-2 comeback win over Gwynedd Mercy.
