Centenary's Ohene Yiadom and Kevin Velasquez Mejia sweep Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Men’s Soccer weekly award winners on Monday, as Centenary’s Ohene Yiadom and Kevin Velasquez Mejia swept Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.

Brief Outlook of Week: Yiadom scored the first goal of the season for the Cyclones which would ultimately serve as the goal that won the game. The sophomore defender scored the goal at the 48'-minute mark of the second half, and also made several key stops that aided in the Cyclones recording a shutout to open up their season.

Name: Kevin Velasquez Mejia

Brief Outlook of Week: The junior Goalkeeper posted a 1-1 record over the weekend, while also earning shutout in the first game of the season. Velasquez-Mejia recorded a total of 14 saves across both games, and currently has a .933 Save percentage.

Weekly Honor Roll:
Jefferson Lopez Coreas (Fy., Forward, Marymount): Jefferson Lopez Coreas scored his first career goal as a Saint in the 10th minute against Hampden-Sydney after ripping a shot past the keeper. Over two games this past weekend, the first-year forward recorded six shots, including four on target.

Bayron Banegas (Jr., Goalkeeper, Marymount): Over a 66-second stretch late in the second half against Hampden-Sydney, Banegas stopped four consecutive shots to keep Marymount within striking distance. He finished the two-game weekend with 10 total saves.

Dylan Walter (Sr., Defender, Immaculata): Walter played strong from the center-back position. Generated two shots from the back end for the Mighty Macs
