LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon, as Cabrini and sweeps major awards.
For the third straight season Atlantic East Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year honors go to
Olivia Little. The graduate student tallied three goals and three assists per game for second in the conference with six total points per game. Little landed second in for the season with 108 points to lead the Cavaliers to their fifth straight Atlantic
Caroline Gallagher repeated as Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row. The defender ended the season with 2.83 caused turnovers across 18 games for 51 total on the season. Gallagher averaged 2.78 groundballs per game to help lead the defense that allowed just 3.33 goals per game in conference play to lead the league by over five goals. The Cavaliers allowed 20 goals across the six conference games and 7.6 per game across all 18 this season.
Cabrini’s Alena Catka was named Rookie of the Year after a breakout first season with the Cavaliers. Catka tallied 28 goals and six assists in her first season. She also ranked eighth on the season with 75 draw controls for 4.17 per game.
Cabrini coaching staff were awarded Coaching Staff of the year for the third year in a row. They are led by Jackie Neary and assisted by Macaul Mellor, Melissa Michels, Coley Ricci, and Sean Ralph. The team went 14-5 with an undefeated conference record and their fifth straight Atlantic East Title. The Cavaliers will continue with NCAA Tournament Play starting this Saturday, May 13
th against Haverford hosted by Salisbury.
Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for women's lacrosse, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to
Abbey Fenton of Cabrini for the second straight season. The senior maintains a cumulative 3.99 GPA in Early Childhood Education at Cabrini. For the entire selection criteria and process,
